Bio

Casey J. Edmondson is an associate attorney with Friedemann Goldberg LLP, practicing in the areas of Litigation, Business Law, and Land Use. He joined the firm in 2016 as a contract attorney and was named an associate to the firm in 2017.

Mr. Edmondson is experienced in legal research and writing, discovery, and law and motion practice.

He is a graduate of the UCLA School of Law. Prior to attending law school, he received his bachelor's degree, summa cum laude, from UCLA, majoring in International Development Studies. Mr. Edmondson is currently serving the City of Santa Rosa as Vice Chair of the Planning Commission.

  • Drafted legal opinion on loan guarantee concerning foreign financial institution with over $200B in assets and U.S. entrepreneurs owning foreign multinational corporation.
  • Recapitalized and split stock of corporation to facilitate creation of employee equity benefits plan.
  • Evaluated life insurance contracts in key executive compensation arrangement in avoiding dispute over treatment of gain and loss.
  • Drafted and restated formation documents for corporations, LLCs, and partnerships in multiple states.
  • Experience with key employee disputes, employment and independent contractor agreements, and tax issues surrounding employer-employee relationship.

Litigation

  • Drafted and solo argued successful motion to remand in federal district court for international apparel corporation.
  • Researched and drafted successful argument on motion to compel arbitration for owners of esteemed local business.
  • Assisted in researching and drafting successful motion for summary judgment for defense on claims seeking over $10 million against financial institution client. Successfully vetted all supporting evidence and defeated all arguments seeking to exclude evidence.
  • Experience with discovery disputes including argument in meet-and-confer letters, involvement in making and resisting motions to compel.
  • Drafted complaints and motions in state and federal court.

Land Use/Real Estate and Highly-Regulated Industries

  • Evaluated zoning and general plan feasibility of sites, including on behalf of sellers to highly-regulated industry buyers, and for property owners or option-holders in connection with residential and mixed-use development.
  • Advised on vineyard sale transaction structure to protect client’s long-term interest in quiet enjoyment of property while allowing buyer to realized desired federal tax treatment.
  • Drafted cotenancy agreements, promissory notes, payment demands, purchase and sale agreements, leases.
  • Experience with boundary disputes, water rights matters, and easements.
